Thoughtfully crafted to elevate what matters most.
You carry the weight.
The late-night texts about crisis. The congregant who questions your leadership in front of others. The lay leader whose vision for the church doesn't align with yours. The tension between your clergy team that nobody addresses directly. The team meetings that feel like navigating a minefield. The Sunday morning preparation when you're already running on empty.
Ministry leadership is demanding in ways people outside it don't fully understand. But here's what people don't talk about: burnout doesn't just affect you—it explodes outward.
It shows up in:
Conflict with your congregation — When leaders aren't aligned, people feel it and exploit it
Tension between clergy and lay leaders — Different authority, different perspectives, unclear roles
Conflict within your leadership team — The people you're supposed to trust, but can't quite navigate conflict with
Disconnection that seeps into everything — The fabric of your community weakens when leaders aren't connected
And everyone feels it. Your team knows. Your congregation senses it. And you're left managing all of it alone.
The Cardinal Project
A year-long leadership development experience designed specifically for clergy and lay leader teams to build resilience, navigate conflict with grace, humility, and truth, and create a culture of repair—so you can lead sustainably, deeply connected to one another and to the mission and vision you've been called to lead.
Welcome
We're Kerri and Pamela. And we know exactly what this feels like.
We've sat with hundreds of leaders carrying impossible weight. We've listened to the questions that keep you up at night:
"How do I show up for my team when I'm burned out?"
"Why does conflict in our leadership team feel so personal?"
"How do we move from damage control to genuine repair?"
"Is there a way to lead that doesn't cost me everything?"
Kerri brings 20+ years as a Board Certified Chaplain, a Master of Divinity with a concentration in community counseling, and ICF ACC coaching certification.
Pamela brings ICF ACC coaching certification, training as a Qualified Mediator, and deep expertise in church and corporate leadership.
Together, we know this: the problem isn't you. And the solution isn't faster, harder, or more prayer alone.
The problem is that no one equipped you with a shared language for what you're experiencing. And without that language, conflict stays stuck, repair stays off the table, and your team stays disconnected.
We created Called to Lead, Equipped to Relate to change that.
You were called to lead. But no one gave you the tools.
Ministry leadership throws you into:
Unspoken conflict — Tensions that simmer beneath polite professionalism
Misaligned motivations — Different values, different ways of seeing the mission
Compassion fatigue — Giving endlessly while slowly running empty
Team disconnection — Going through the motions together, but not truly connected
Nowhere to repair — When things break, you either smooth it over or let it fester
And the tragedy? These aren't character flaws. These aren't failures of faith or commitment.
You just need:
A shared language for understanding motivation, conflict, and repair
Practical tools for difficult conversations
A community of leaders doing this work alongside you
Permission to be human while leading
Here's what we know is true:
These are systemic challenges that every leadership team faces. And they are solvable.
When you do this work with your team, everything shifts—so that you can:
Go from isolated stress → Shared understanding
Stop wondering if you're the only one struggling. Realize your whole team is carrying similar weight—and that shared realization is the beginning of repair.
Go from conflict avoidance → Courageous conversations
Navigate difficult conversations with humility, clarity, and a real chance of actually reconnecting on the other side.
Go from burnout → Sustainable resilience
Establish rhythms and practices that help you lead for the long haul—not by being tougher, but by being wiser about your capacity and your boundaries.
Go from blame → Repair
Create a team covenant around how you'll handle conflict, disrepair, and restoration together. And that changes everything about how you show up.
Go from fragmented team → Brave space
Move from a collection of individual leaders to a real team—one that knows how to grow in confidence together, deepen connection, and live more fully into your shared purpose in Jesus.
Why we do this work:
I've spent years working in mediation and church leadership. I've seen firsthand what happens when teams have the language and tools to move through conflict, and I've seen what happens when they don't. When people lack the skills to navigate difficult conversations and repair relationships, the impact runs deep. I've witnessed the pain, sadness, disconnection, and helplessness that can emerge when conflict remains unresolved and trust begins to erode. Teams without those resources don't just struggle, they fragment.
Those experiences have reinforced my belief that conflict itself isn't the problem. The challenge is that many people have never been taught how to move through it in healthy and constructive ways. That's why I'm committed to building brave spaces where leaders can grow in confidence, strengthen relationship intelligence, learn the art of repair, and deepen connection. When individuals understand themselves and others more fully, they are better equipped to navigate differences, rebuild trust, and create the conditions for healthy, high-performing teams.
Pamela’s Story
Growing up with a pastor father, and now as an ordained minister myself, I've lived and breathed church leadership my whole life. Through years as a Board Certified Chaplain, lay leader in numerous congregations, and in friendships with countless pastors, I've witnessed the same heartbreaking pattern: brilliant, faithful leaders slowly hollowing out because no one equipped them with the language or tools to navigate relational complexity together. I watched conflict fester, teams fracture, and ministries suffer—not because of lack of faith, but because leaders were alone with it. That's what convinced me: leaders don't need more shame. They need a different way forward.
Kerri’s Story
Together
We bring a collaborative, Christ-centered approach rooted in trust, open dialogue, and thoughtful support through both growth and complexity. We're not here to pretend ministry is easy. We're here to help you repair what's broken so you can continue the vital work God has called you to do—together, sustainably, and faithfully.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Four Half-Day Workshops Over 12 Months
This is a year-long development experience. You'll gather with your team four times, each session building on the last, creating a progression from foundation to integration.
Session 1 — Foundations: Resilience and Motivation
What drives you? What does God-given strength look like in your leadership? What rhythms actually sustain the calling?
In this session, you'll:
Discover your motivational style and how it shapes your leadership
Understand your God-given strengths and how they show up under pressure
Establish practices that sustain your calling for the long haul
Why it matters: You can't lead a team well if you don't understand what sustains you. This foundation matters.
Session 2 — Deepening: Stress, Compassion, and Conflict
How do you respond when things get hard? And how do you extend grace—to yourself and to others—in the moments that matter most?
In this session, you'll:
Explore how leaders respond under pressure and stress
Learn to recognize the difference between conflict and relational rupture
Practice extending compassion in the difficult moments
Build awareness of your team's emotional landscape
Why it matters: Conflict is inevitable. But it doesn't have to destroy. This session helps you move through it with grace.
Session 3 — Application: Mastering Challenging Conversations
In this session, you'll:
Learn a framework for difficult conversations grounded in courage and humility
Practice navigating real scenarios your team is facing
Build skills for listening deeply and speaking truthfully
Increase your chance of actual repair, not just damage control
This is where theory meets reality. How do you navigate the conversation you've been avoiding? How do you speak truth with humility? And how do you actually repair afterward?
Why it matters: The conversations you avoid don't go away. They just get more complicated. This session changes how you show up.
Session 4 — Integration: Building a Culture of Repair
What does it look like to build a leadership team culture where conflict, rupture, and restoration aren't shameful—they're normal?
In this session, you'll:
Create a practical team covenant for how you'll handle conflict together
Establish practices for ongoing repair and connection
Build accountability structures that support long-term health
Commit to leading differently, together
Why it matters: This isn't a one-time fix. This is about creating a new normal for your team.
The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI)
The SDI gives you and your team:
A shared language for understanding what motivates each person—helping you navigate conflict with greater empathy and understanding
New insight into how you show up during conflict and stress—so that you can respond with more awareness and intention
Practical tools for repair and reconnection after rupture—helping you move through conflict toward genuine healing
Compassion for how different people experience the same situation differently—so that you can extend grace across your team's differences
Each session uses the Strength Deployment Inventory—a relationship intelligence assessment designed to help individuals and teams better understand what motivates behavior, how people respond to conflict, and how stronger workplace relationships can be built and sustained.
This isn't personality typing. This is about relational awareness—understanding yourself and your team in ways that actually matter for leading together.
Let’s Talk About Your Team
Not sure if this is right for you? It probably is. If you're leading a team through ministry, whether you're 3 people or 30, this work changes how you show up together.
